The routers pictured previously direct Web site requests to switches, which use ethernet cards
to handle traffic at a rate of up to 100 megabits per second. "Packets" of information are then forwarded to the appropriate server port.
This one of nine Liebert air conditioners carefully integrated into Interliant's
facility. Each one has been sealed into a hole in the raised tile
floor and recirculates filtered air by forcing it beneath the
tiles and through vents next to each server bank. This constant recycling
of filtered air maintains a consistent temperature of 68o and no more than
45% humidity - uncomfortable for humans but ideal for servers.
