So know that you've seen what a data center looks like, but what about the servers themselves? To help us understand this question, we turned to CommuniTech.Net to tour their data center and have them explain some of the technical elements of web servers. Let's join their CEO, Gabriel Murphy for this tour.
Pictured above are 20+ Sun Enterprise servers. These servers hold over 100GB of drive space via 6 hard drives in a RAID-5 configuration, 1,024MB of RAM, and dual 300MHz UltraSparc II processors. Because of the size (6U chassis) and weight of the servers, they are mounted in 4 post racks. On the left of the picture, you can see the doors to the APC Netshelters which are used to house the Sun servers.
